Senior Solution Architect
As a Solution Architect you will be responsible for interpreting complex business requirements, coordinating the collection of non-functional requirements and articulating appropriate architectures to support the requirements. You must possess knowledge and expertise in a wide variety of architectures (client server, thin client, rich client, multi-tier, distributed, service oriented, etc.), technologies and integration and implementation strategies. Essential in performing your responsibilities will be the ability to communicate with both business and technical resources in terms that they can understand, and work closely with Product Managers and Technical Leads to deliver implemented solutions.
Responsibilities:
· Defining the overall system and solution architecture for a given “Product Set” or “Product Set Enhancement”. Specifically delivering or assisting in the delivery of the following new or enhanced system documents: Conceptual Architecture, Component Architecture, Non-functional Requirements, Integration Strategy, User Interface Strategy, Implementation Strategy, Preliminary Project Schedule.
· Identifying, interpreting and applying appropriate enterprise architecture standards and guidelines that will be followed when defining the system and solution architecture.
· Leading all software architecture resources associated with project (eg. Application Architect, Data Architect, Integration Architect, U/I Architect.
· Interacting with Infrastructure Architect and providing operational requirements to support the identification and selection of operational equipment.
· Providing guidance and introduction of new strategic technology into the project.
· Leading the technical team in the identification and evaluation of software components to meet the application requirements (in a larger project an application or integration architect may take the lead on this activity and the solution architect may simply provide support).
· Ensuring that a common understanding of issues and knowledge is leveraged in conjunction with the Enterprise Architect.
· Previous experience in designing solution architectures to support CRM, Retail, Supply Chain Optimization, eBusiness and Travel Management problem domains would be an asset.
Requirements:
· 10 or more years Information Technology experiences with progressive roles leading to solution architect capability.
· Experience with service and capability based architectures.
· 5+ years of development in Java
· 3+ years of J2EE
· 3+ years XML
· 3+ years UML
· 5+ years Object Oriented
· Exposure to Oracle 8/9 including Table, Index, Stored Procedure/Trigger designs.
· 2+ years of WebServices development.
· Strong knowledge of B2B architectures
· Experience with BEA WL 7/8, JBuilder, IntelliJ would be an asset.
· Experience with Informatica would be an asset.
· Experience with Message Oriented Middleware would be an asset.
· Experience with Rational Rose, Doors would be an asset.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills at all organizational levels
· Flexibility, energy and confidence; ability to drive delivery in a dynamic organization.
· University Degree in Computer Sciences or Equivalent.
